"I had to Have a Julie Whitehead Cake" - Katherine
This was such a happy day. Katherine, who manages the weddings and events at the Greek Club in West End, met Jean-Louis, who is the Chef there. As their relationship developed, try as they might to keep it a secret, it became obvious to everyone they were in love.

Jean-Louis had full confidence in Katherine choosing the design of the cake. He has served many of my cakes at the Greek Club, always with confidence that it would be perfect.

Katherine liked the individual box idea, yet wanted something a little different. Katherine did not like fuss. She wanted simplicity with elegant style.

The cake was to be served as Dessert and the colours of the wedding were creams and ivory. Katherine's dress was absolutely beautiful with lovely detail to which she wore a single strand of gorgeous pearls borrowed from Aunt Esther. I love pearls!

I designed this cake, which was large in stature yet very stylish, with a double row of edible silver pearls imported from Italy around the top edge. White chocolate collars with Ivory satin ribbon and diamante buckles l had imported from America. I designed the middle tier with the individual chocolate boxes, of which some were my chocolate almond truffle cake and others were my brandy soaked (lots of it) moist fruit cake.

Katherine wanted to personally hand these out as a gift to her closest friends and family. The top tier had lovely ivory roses supplied by Monica from Bloomberry Flowers and Events, Highgate Hill.

The individual chocolate boxes had chocolate curls and the bottom tier was left with the white chocolate ganache visible. The clean lines of this cake is also what makes it - Simple, but extremely stylish.

This is what exactly what Katherine and Jean-Louis wanted. With a touch of bling with the buckles. I also placed my tiny silver edible pearls on the walls just to complement the buckles and to keep the pearled theme flowing through from top to bottom.

Monica created gorgeous centrepieces with tall vases on the tables with cascading lilies, roses, hydrangeas and Singapore orchids, the bouquets with hints of pink roses with the cream - just a touch of colour.

Restaurant II provided the perfect setting for Katherine and Jean-Louis wedding.

The pressure was on for me as some of Jean-Louis friends are Brisbane's top chefs and food critiques. Katherine later told me that everyone was stunned with the cake and there were lots of Ooos and ahhhs during desert. Yes!!!!

This was truly a joyous wedding.
